SUGOMI™ AWAKENS

Sugomi™ describes the core performance and styling elements found in Kawasaki’s Z supernaked models, performance and styling that excites and stimulates the senses. The Z1100 SE ABS motorcycle is the culmination of the unique performance and styling of Sugomi, condensed into Kawasaki’s largest-displacement Z model.

Sugomi™ styling has evolved in the new Z1100 SE ABS with the front fender sides extended to enhance protection for the inner fork tubes, and a new meter cover making the Z1100 SE ABS motorcycle’s silhouette appear as low as possible. A new under-cowl shape with fins adds to the aggressive image retaining the eye-catching original looks that set it apart from the competition. Equipped with an all-LED lighting package that includes a headlight with 4 LED bulbs (2 low-beam/2 high-beam), a separate LED position lamp, and a new LED license plate lamp. The LED headlamp design borrows from the image of a predator on the hunt with its eyes locked onto its prey, while the taillight adds a futuristic touch to the bike's rear.

Electronic Throttle Valves (ETV) enhance performance and enable the ECU to control the volume of both the fuel (via fuel injectors) and the air (via throttle valves) delivered to the engine. Ideal Fuel Injection (FI) and throttle valve position results in smooth, natural engine response and the ideal engine output. Thanks to the FI and ETV settings, response is both quick and silky smooth – a characteristic that facilitates control and contributes to sport riding potential.

The cool air system routes cool air to the airbox from ducts at the front of the side fairings, minimizing performance loss due to heated intake air. The intake ports were optimized to suit the throttle body change and an intoxicating intake howl contributes to the engine feel enhancing the senses with every twist of the throttle. Aggressive looks extend to the clean, high-performance exhaust system which has a 4-2-1 arrangement. The updated exhaust system has a single silencer mounted at a higher angle to accentuate Sugomi™ styling for a sporty, dynamic image.

Complementing the exhilarating engine character, the dual-direction contactless-type Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and quick and easy deceleration. During acceleration, the system detects that the shift lever has been actuated and sends a signal to the ECU to retard ignition so that the next gear can be engaged without having to use the clutch. During deceleration, the KQS system automatically controls engine speed, allowing you to downshift without operating the clutch.

The Assist & Slipper clutch is a race-inspired clutch technology that offers a very light feel at the lever as well as a back-torque limiting function that helps prevent the rear tire from hopping and skidding during quick downshifts.

The use of a compact Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) allows an additional layer of precision to be added to the already high-level KTRC and KIBS systems. IMU enables inertia monitoring along 6 Degrees of Freedom. Acceleration along longitudinal, transverse, and vertical axes, plus roll rate and pitch rate are measured. The yaw rate is calculated by the ECU using Kawasaki’s proprietary dynamic modeling software. Additional feedback from the IMU gives an even clearer real-time picture of chassis orientation.

Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) provides both enhanced sport riding performance and the confidence to negotiate low-traction surfaces. Three rider-selectable modes offer progressively greater levels of intrusion to suit the riding situation and your preference:

- Mode 1 provides the least amount of assistance with sport riding in mind.
- Mode 2 offers earlier assistance and features balanced sport riding support.
- Mode 3 offers the most assistance, allowing you to navigate challenging road conditions with confidence.

KTRC uses complex analysis predicting when traction conditions can become unfavourable and confirms conditions every 5 milliseconds using ignition cut and airflow control (via the Electronic Throttle Valves), enabling extremely quick reaction. You may also elect to turn the system off.

Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) is a supersport-grade, multi-sensing brake management system that uses high-precision control to modulate brake pressure in much smaller increments than with standard ABS systems. By accounting for back-torque, KIBS is able to offer increased rear brake control during downshifts. With feedback from the IMU, KIBS is also able to incorporate corner braking management.

A choice between Full Power or Low Power modes allows you to set power delivery to suit preference and conditions. Low Power mode limits output to approximately 75% of Full Power for enhanced manageability.

Integrated riding modes link KTRC settings and Power Modes, allowing you to easily set traction control and power delivery to suit your given riding situation and optimize your riding experience. Select between Sport, Road, Rain, or Manual to tailor the ride to conditions and preferences. The riding mode can be changed while riding, using the buttons located on the left handle.

The lightweight, highly rigid aluminum twin-tube frame features a high degree of mass centralization, creating a balance between sharp turning and firm handling. The exhaust system, lightweight aluminum rear frame, rear suspension, and the use of downdraft throttle bodies are the greatest contributors to mass centralization.

The aggressive posture matches the motorcycle's direct throttle response and handling, putting you in a position to fully capitalize on its sporty street riding potential. Improving on an already stellar riding position, an updated handlebar position that’s wider and further forward features a fat-type aluminum handlebar offering improved rigidity and response with a posture that stays in command helping you feel at one with the bike.

Powerful Brembo M4.32 radial-mount monobloc front brake calipers paired with 310mm Brembo brake discs and steel-braided brake lines offer exceptional braking performance.

Aggressive tread patterned Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires mounted to lightweight supersport-style 6-spoke wheels enhance the Z1100 SE ABS motorcycle’s sporty design and contributing to optimal road gripping performance. Conventional rear axle adjusters also help facilitate maintenance chores.

New 5-in all-digital TFT color instrumentation delivers a high level of visibility and lends the cockpit a high-tech appearance. The screen’s background color automatically changes from white to black when ambient light is low, or it can be manually set per your preference. Screen brightness is also adjusted automatically to suit available ambient light.

The display can be switched between two display types. Type 1 shows a bar-style tachometer along the top with vital vehicle information or turn-by-turn directions below it if in use. Type 2 shows a hexagonal tachometer with either an aviation-style attitude indicator-inspired lean angle indicator or turn-by-turn directions in the center.

Technology within the instrument panel lets you connect to the motorcycle wirelessly. Using RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE^†, several instrument functions can be accessed allowing you to view vehicle info, riding log, phone notifications, display settings, set riding modes, turn-by-turn navigation, and voice commands.

A handlebar-mounted USB-C outlet offers the convenience of charging personal electronics.
