Another impressive GP for Karssemakers

DRT Kawasaki's Kay Karssemakers posted another stunning performance in the Chinese round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship at Shanghai, taking sixth overall from 6-5 moto finishes to move into the Top 10 of the series standings.

The Dutch youngster, ever growing in confidence, cut inside cleverly at Turn 1 of the first race to emerge seventh and had already moved to sixth, only headed by the Top 5 in the series, before the end of the opening lap. He cleverly resisted any challenge to bring home sixth. He again cut under the pack at the first turn of Race 2 and another forceful opening lap saw him advance to sixth; running the pace of the leading pack, he remained less than five seconds from second for 15 minutes. He added another feather to his cap on Lap 8 of 18 with a stylish inside pass on the defending world champion for fifth and maintained his charge to equal his career-best moto finish of the previous week. The 35-point weekend haul has lifted him into the Top 10 of the series standings heading to the final round next weekend in Australia.

"I was really happy with my riding, and I was consistent all weekend, going 7-6-5, just one point shy of fifth overall for the second GP in a row. I was particularly pleased with my second moto; I was really close to the first places for most of the race. My thanks to Steve and Willem; we are improving every week, and I will keep working on it all winter to be ready for next year."
