More Top Six Success For BbKRT At Motorland
Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) secured two strong sixth-place finishes on the final day at MotorLand Aragón, while teammate Axel Bassani claimed valuable championship points with a ninth-place result in Race Two.
The 3.15 mile Spanish circuit hosted Sunday’s double-header on September 28, featuring the ten-lap Tissot Superpole Race followed by the 18-lap Race Two.
In the morning sprint, Lowes delivered a competitive ride to take sixth, finishing just 3.6 seconds behind race winner Nicolo Bulega. Bassani, starting from 11th, battled up to ninth mid-race before crossing the line in 11th.
Race Two saw Lowes launch from the second row and maintain a strong pace, consistently fighting within the top eight. In the closing laps, he moved forward to secure another sixth-place finish. Bassani, starting 12th, pushed hard through the technical sections to climb three positions and finish ninth, adding seven more championship points.
With Aragón complete, the 2025 WorldSBK season heads into its decisive final stretch, with back-to-back rounds at Estoril (October 10–12) and Jerez (October 17–19).
Alex Lowes:
“I’m really happy with two sixth places today. We knew it would be a tough weekend, but the bike felt good, and the team made small changes that improved my pace. In Race Two, I made a small mistake with Andrea Iannone braking earlier than I expected, but I stayed on the bike and came back strong to pass Locatelli at the end. I felt we could have been in the fight for fourth or fifth, but our target was top six, and we achieved that while also qualifying on the front row. Overall, it’s been a really positive weekend. Thanks to the whole team—I’m looking forward to the final two rounds.”
Axel Bassani:
“The Superpole Race was tough because I was losing on the straight and trying to recover under braking. In Race Two, the feeling was similar, but once I caught Petrucci, I couldn’t make the pass—I’d lose on the straight and then regain in the corners. Still, ninth gave us good points, and I’m happy with the work we did. Now we focus on Estoril for Round 11.”
