Alcoba Takes Career-Best Fourth in WorldSSP at Magny-Cours

FIM Supersport World Championship rookie Jeremy Alcoba claimed a career-best fourth place in Race Two at Magny-Cours, just 0.272 seconds from a maiden podium finish on his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636.

Starting from 11th on the grid, Alcoba delivered a strong launch and quickly joined the lead group behind eventual winner Stefano Manzi. Despite never having ridden at the 4.411km French circuit before this weekend, the Spaniard showcased impressive pace and composure throughout the 19-lap contest.

Mid-race drama promoted Alcoba into third after a rival crashed out, but with grip fading he was eventually caught by Tom Booth-Amos and slipped to fourth. Under pressure in the closing laps, Alcoba remained calm, holding off further challengers and even closing back in on Booth-Amos in the final corners. At the flag, he missed the podium by less than three-tenths of a second.

Coupled with his eighth-place finish on Saturday, Alcoba’s strong weekend lifts him to seventh in the championship standings with 128 points heading into Round Ten at MotorLand Aragón, Spain, on September 26–28.

Jeremy Alcoba:
“I am super-happy because I fought until the very end for the podium. From half-race distance I struggled with both front and rear grip, so I tried to follow another rider to manage the pace. In the last laps I was able to recover some time and I pushed hard to try for third, but it wasn’t possible in the final corner. We were really close to the podium, which shows our potential. I will keep working and aim to achieve it at my home race in Aragón. Thanks to the whole team for their support.”
