Alex Lowes Secures Triple Podium for Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team at Magny-Cours
Alex Lowes delivered the most successful weekend yet for the new Bimota KB4 998 Rimini and the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team, scoring three podiums at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. Teammate Axel Bassani added solid points with eighth and 12th place finishes on Sunday.
After qualifying fourth on Saturday, Lowes carried strong momentum into Sunday’s 10-lap Superpole Race. Battling in the intense sprint, he maintained composure to secure third place behind race winner Toprak Razgatlioglu and second-placed Nicolo Bulega, marking his second podium of the weekend.
Bassani also impressed in the Superpole Race, crossing the line seventh before a track-limits penalty dropped him to eighth at the finish.
In the 21-lap Race Two, Lowes again launched from the front row and quickly fought his way into second place. Engaged in a fierce contest with Jonathan Rea and Danilo Petrucci, he eventually broke clear to secure third, completing a perfect run of three podiums at Magny-Cours. The result marked the fourth podium of the season for the new KB4 998 Rimini after Lowes’ breakthrough at Misano in June.
Bassani started Race Two from eighth on the grid, battling hard before finishing 12th to add further championship points.
With these results, Lowes moves to seventh in the overall WorldSBK standings with 144 points, while Bassani sits ninth with 99 points heading into the next round at MotorLand Aragón, Spain, on September 26–28.
Alex Lowes:
“Here at Magny-Cours we got straight back into a good rhythm. From the first practice the bike felt strong, and qualifying well made a big difference. On this track we had some real advantages, which gave me confidence to push. In Race Two it was tough in the hot conditions, but I enjoyed it and three podiums show how well this new project is coming together. Now the goal is to be competitive at more circuits.”
Axel Bassani:
“We didn’t start the weekend well, but the team worked incredibly hard and made a big step. In the end we reached our goals. Alex’s podiums are great for the team and also for Bimota, and I’m happy for everyone involved.”
