Kawasaki Racing Team MX2’s Mathis Valin Secures Fifth Overall in Turkey

Kawasaki Racing Team MX2’s Mathis Valin delivered a consistent performance at Afyonkarahisar, finishing fifth overall with 4-6 moto results in the Turkish round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship.

Bouncing back strongly after a challenging qualifying session, the French teenager launched his KX250-SR into the top five off the start in moto one. After briefly slipping to sixth, Valin regrouped and steadily closed back in on the leaders. On the final lap, he executed a decisive pass to claim fourth, crossing the line just five seconds behind the series points leader.

In moto two, Valin produced an even stronger start, running fourth until lap six when he was overtaken by the reigning world champion. Holding fifth for much of the race, a late mistake with four laps remaining dropped him to sixth at the checkers. His 4-6 results secured fifth overall on the day, consolidating his position inside the world championship top ten. Valin now sits just four points from ninth and eighteen from eighth heading into the final two rounds.

Mathis Valin:
“I had a really good jump in the first moto, but my outside gate position cost me some spots in the first turn. I found my rhythm and got faster as the race went on, even making a last-lap pass for fourth. In moto two, my start was even better and I had good pace again. I ran out of a little energy near the end and finished sixth, but I learned a lot battling with the front guys. This is the best way to gain experience in my rookie year.”
