Kawasaki Racing Team rider Jack Chambers opened the 2024 FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship campaign in Argentina with twelfth overall after two gritty rides through the pack.

The young American displayed speed through the first half the first moto to surge through from 20th leaving turn one, advancing to 12th within five laps to pressurize the defending world champion through mid-race. He eventually lost the tow in traffic but maintained his 12th position to the finish. The 21 year old faced another tough ride through the pack in race two after finding himself twentieth on the opening lap but, maintaining his lap times for the entire 35 minutes, he made the final decisive pass for eleventh on the penultimate lap. He heads to round two in Spain in two weeks' time 12th in the championship standings.

"Most important is that I'm healthy. This was a tough track, particularly as I've been riding a lot of deep sand tracks with ruts to turn on in Florida; nothing like this. I need to work on the starts; I was coming from the back in both motos. I feel my fitness is way better than last year but I haven't raced since the Nations last October; I was just missing the race craft and felt a bit of nerves. But we have a good base moving forward. We fly to Madrid tomorrow; I'll be ready for that one so I'll be looking for redemption in Spain."

Bobby Bruce, racing a GP outside Europe for the first time, shot out of the gate in the first moto to hold down 12 place on the opening lap. He maintained the pace just outside the Top 10 for four more laps before a slip pushed him back to 19th but he settled down again quickly to recover to 16th at the finish. The English teenager maintained a Top 15 placing throughout half of race two before the pace took its toll in his first race since he was injured last June and he settled for 18th at the checkered flag. His efforts earnt 19th overall.

"It was tough but we enjoyed it. This was my first race since June last year. The weekend started off good with P10 in practice and I was up there in Qualifying but I had a crash on the first lap and lost the rear brake. In the first race today I was running 16th but crashed, and I was P13 for a long time in the second moto but I just couldn't hold on to it. But we leave here healthy and I'm looking forward to Madrid."

Kawasaki-mounted Quentin Marc Prugnières performed admirably in the first race of his rookie GP season. The French youngster cut his way through the pack to finish ninth in the first moto and, after an excellent sixth-placed start in race two, maintained a Top 10 ranking for more than half of the race before a late error pushed him back to 16th in moto and 13th overall.
