2016 Winter Olympics Podium Showered in Kawasaki Green

Foothill Ranch, CA (November 30, 2016) – Monster Energy® Kawasaki Team Green™ entered the 2016 Winter Olympics ready to begin the 2017 amateur motocross racing season on a high note with a batch of new talent on Kawasaki KX™ bikes. After qualifying on pole in the 85cc (12-13) Class, Jett Reynolds picked up right where he left off and won Team Green's first championship of the week on his KX™85. Reynolds went on to finish second in both the 85cc (12-13) Limited and Mini Sr. (12-15) Limited classes. John Grewe yet again continued to dominate the competition on his KX™450F and swept both the Senior +45 and Vet +35 classes, adding two more supercross championships for Kawasaki.

Kawasaki Team Green riders's Seth Hammaker, Stilez Robertson, Dilan Schwartz and Reynolds lined up alongside one another for the Supermini 1 (12-15) and Supermini 2 (13-16) classes. When the gate dropped on Supermini 1, 40 of the fastest kids in the world came barreling around the first corner and it was Hammaker and Schwartz inside the top three. Hammaker would hold on to finish in second place, Schwartz in fourth and Robertson and Reynolds rounded out the top-10 in sixth and eighth, respectively. Supermini 2 was much the same as Hammaker and Schwartz rode strong to put their KX™100 up on the box in second and third place respectively.

Nick Romano rode his KX85 to a second place finish in the 85cc (9-11) Limited class and a sixth place in 85cc (9-11) class. His younger teammate Krystian Janik performed well on his new ride by grabbing himself a top-10 finish in the 65cc (7-9) class.

The No. 99 of Lance Kobusch made the move up to the full size KX™250F this year and took home second place in Schoolboy 2 (13-16), fourth in 450 B and 11th in 250 B. Teammate Garrett Marchbanks rode well to finish seventh in Schoolboy 2, 11th in 450 B and 7th in 250 B. Team Green's newest rider Carson Brown showcased his raw speed on both the KX250F and KX450F as he raced inside the top five all day.

After three days of competing on the supercross track, it was time to drop the gate over on the motocross portion of Gatorback Cycle Park. Tension was high as teammates Schwartz, Hammaker, Reynolds and Robertson were the first four riders to come around Turn 1 at the start of Supermini 1 (12-15) class moto. The young Reynolds lead the field around Turn 1 before sliding back into third place behind teammates Schwartz and Hammaker. Schwartz went on to win the race and the Supermini 1 (12-15) Championship, while Hammaker finished second and Robertson fifth. Unfortunately, due to a mid-race collision, Reynolds was forced to sit out the remainder of the weekend. The teammates were set to race bar-to-bar one more time for the Supermini 2 (12-16) title. Once again, KX was upfront with Schwartz in first and Hammaker in fifth. Hammaker would capitalize on a mistake from the race leaders and win the moto to be crowned Supermini 2 (12-16) Champion. After a tipping over in a corner Schwartz would mount a charge back up to fifth place, while Robertson finished sixth.

Fans lined the fences as the 250 B Class blasted out of the gate and around the first turn. Kobusch would lead the competition early on his KX250F with teammate Marchbanks in second. The two Kawasaki riders battled back and forth for nearly the entire race before the No. 82 of Marchbanks made the pass stick two laps before the checkered flag. Marchbanks would take the victory over his teammate with a score of 1-1 to secure the 250 B Championship. Marchbanks went on to win the Schoolboy 2 (13-16) B/C Class Championship and take second place in 450 B after winning Moto 2. Carson Brown continued to improve all week finishing inside the top five in all three of his classes.

Grewe continued his domination from supercross over to motocross and swept all four of his classes. At the age of 50, Grewe won every moto he entered this weekend, taking home four championships in the Vet +35, Senior 40+, Senior +45 and Masters 50+ classes.

Hannah Hodges impressed as she dominated the second WMX race of her career, going 1-1 for first overall. Meanwhile Kawasaki rider Kylie Fasnacht fought through the pain of a torn ACL to earn enough points to be crowned 2016 WMX Champion.

Nick Romano rode his KX85 to two-second place finishes in the 85cc (9-11) Limited 85cc (9-11) Mod class. Janik improved his finishes race by race to eventually capture two top five finishes in both 65cc (7-9) Limited and 65cc (7-9) Mod.
