BbKRT Riders Score Points at Cremona on Challenging Sunday

The tight, stadium-style circuit of Cremona hosted two WorldSBK races on Sunday, May 4, where bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team (BbKRT) riders Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani both added to their championship points tally in Race Two.

The day began with the ten-lap Superpole Race, where Lowes delivered the team's best result with a 12th-place finish. Bassani endured a difficult outing, slipping from 13th on the opening lap to 20th mid-race, eventually recovering to cross the line in 18th.

Race Two, held under dry skies and light cloud cover at the 3.768km Italian circuit, brought improved results. Lowes led the way for BbKRT with an 11th-place finish on the Bimota KB998 Rimini, while Bassani battled front and rear grip issues to secure 15th and a valuable championship point.

This marked the first appearance of the new KB998 Rimini at Cremona, a circuit where BbKRT had not tested prior to the fourth round of the 2025 season.

After one-third of the championship, Bassani sits 12th overall with 49 points, while Lowes follows closely in 14th with 45 points.

Next up for the team is the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic, with Round Five scheduled for May 16–18.

Alex Lowes:
“It was fantastic to race the Bimota KB998 Rimini in front of the Italian fans for the first time. Of course, we’d have liked a better result, but the final race was pretty solid. Starting from 16th, you need a bit of luck in the opening laps, but I gave it everything. I was feeling strong and gained several positions. My best lap came on the final lap, and the front-end feel was a clear improvement over Saturday. The field is so close now—you need a perfect weekend to qualify well and be in the fight for the top five. We were slightly on the back foot this weekend, but we kept making progress, and that’s what counts.”

Axel Bassani:
“Sunday at Cremona was a really tough day, which can happen sometimes. I had a decent lap in warm-up, but the bike setup still didn’t feel right. In the Superpole Race, I struggled to stop the bike and quickly dropped positions. In short races, if you're not 100%, it's very easy to fall back. In Race Two, I had grip issues front and rear from the start. I just tried to manage it and finish the race, but the feeling wasn't great. It wasn’t the result we wanted, but one day doesn’t define you. It’s part of racing. We’ll reset and be ready for the next one.”
