A comfortable fit everywhere from farms and ranches to downtown industrial environments, the success of Kawasaki’s two-wheel-drive Mule™ 600 utility vehicle is no secret. Getting two people, tools and supplies to a job site, or letting them enjoy the great outdoors—at a price less than many ATVs—is just smart economics. The versatility of Kawasaki’s entry-level utility model is enhanced by its transportability; it’s an easy fit in the bed of a full-size pickup truck.
No doubt, the Mule 600’s charm starts with its spacious cab, curved body panels and a large-diameter steel tube frame integrated in a clean, modern design. The 600’s user-friendliness starts with automotive-type controls and a gear selector that’s within easy reach on the dashboard, and continues on to the two large cup holders, a passenger-side glove box and passenger grab handle. Even more storage space is located beneath the Mule 600’s hinged front hood.
Underneath all of this is an equally effective single-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), dual-mode rear differential, independent front suspension, unit swing-axle rear suspension and hydraulic brakes.
The Mule 600’s durable air-cooled, 401cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine maintains an ideal operating temperature with the help of an efficient cooling fan. An enrichening system that partially opens the throttle during ignition makes for easy engine starts. It can be started in forward or reverse gear, provided the brake is applied. It also utilizes “mud flaps” by the rear tires to minimize mud clogging the engine area.
Owners will also like the peace of mind that comes with the Mule 610 4x4 utility vehicle’s efficient and durable CVT, equipped with a long-lasting drive belt, that’s coupled with a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive. The dual-mode differential can be locked to maximize traction on adverse terrain.
The Mule 600 rides on a MacPherson strut suspension up front, while a unit swing-axle handles rear suspension duties. Large 22-inch tires further enhance ride quality, and ample stopping power is provided by sealed, hydraulic drum brakes on all four wheels.
Bright 35-watt headlights mean the job can start before sunrise or continue after sunset. Increasing its work versatility is the 400-pound-capable tilting cargo bed, which features tailgate latches that are easy to fasten quickly and securely. The Mule 600 can tow up to 1,100 pounds with an optional Kawasaki trailer hitch installed. Other popular Kawasaki accessories available through Kawasaki dealers include an enclosed cab, snow plow, winch, and soft or hard tops.
