Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. Announces
Recall of KFX450R All-Terrain Vehicles
This product safety recall is conducted by
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. in cooperation with
the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Until the repairs have been completed, owners
should not ride the ATV, and should store it in a
well-ventilated area away from any source of
ignition.
Name of product: Kawasaki KFX450R All-Terrain
Vehicle (ATV)
Units: About 6000
Distributor: Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. of
Irvine, CA.
Hazard: On certain of the affected models, the
flange which holds the fuel pump in the fuel tank
may not be sufficiently bonded to the tank itself.
This can allow fuel to leak from the flange area,
causing the risk of fire, with the subsequent risk
of property damage, injury, or death.
Incidents/Injuries: 60 reports of fuel leaks, with
no injuries.
Description: The recalled ATVs are the 2008 model
year Kawasaki KFX450R. These ATVs are available in
white, green, or black, and have "Kawasaki" and
"KFX450R" on the front bodywork below the
handlebars.
Sold by: These ATVs were sold by Kawasaki motorcycle
and ATV dealers between March and June of 2007. The
KFX450R has a MSRP of $7399.
Manufactured in: U.S.A.
Remedy: Consumers should contact their authorized
Kawasaki dealer. Dealers will replace the fuel tank,
free of charge.
