Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green On the Podium Friday at Mammoth
Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green On the Podium Friday at Mammoth
Irvine, Calif. (June 29, 2013) – Following a day of practice, the Open classes took to the prestigious Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross track on Friday. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green rider Colt Nichols and his KX™450F contested the Open Pro class which consisted of some of the top amateur riders in the country as well as professionals from Monster Energy Supercross and the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS). Nichols came from behind in both his division race and the Open Pro final, battling through the field to finish third overall. Team Green Dealer Assist rider Adam Nickerson collected the Open C championship, while Darian Sanayei and Jesse Sanchez finished in second place in Schoolboy 2 and Open B, respectively.
Working with the Elements
The elevation effects four-stroke engines just as it does two-strokes. The advantage to the KX™450F is the adjustable mapping couplers that are easily switched on the fly. For the elevation, the white coupler is recommended to lean out the engine due to the lack of oxygen. Liquids also boil quicker at elevation, therefore Team Green support suggests to run a completely full tank of VP Racing Fuel as a higher volume takes longer to boil. Lastly, Team Green has been suggesting riders go up one tooth in their gearing to get the most power climbing the steep hills that Mammoth presents.
